About Me

My photo
I started the Kids Clothing Trading Post back in March, 2010 with just two racks and a few bins of clothes. In just 6 months we grew to 16 racks and tons of bins with more in backstock! Finally in October we built a 10x20 shed in our yard to house the KCTP and it is fabulous! Our community has come together in a huge way and we want you to join in on the fun!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I come and just buy items without trading?
Yes. Anyone can purchase the clothing by simply converting the points to dollars. For example, if a Onesie is priced at 0.25 points, it easily converts to $0.25. All purchases are subject to the applicable sales tax and are non-refundable, but if kept in good condition, we encourage you to trade them back in! I will not tolerate people buying from the trading post for the purpose of reselling.

  • Do I have to pay the Trading Fee if I'm only buying clothes?
No. If you are here to just purchase clothes, you will not need to pay the trading fee. However, the purchased clothes are subject to applicable sales tax. If you are trading and purchasing, they will be counted as two separate transactions and you will be assessed the trading fee and then the cost of the purchased items plus tax.

  • How much does it cost?
The fee to trade is $5.00/trade. Click here for more information on the Trading Fee.

  • Why are you only trading clothes?
I am running this out of my own home so that I can do this for a very small fee. Therefore, space is limited and baby stuff can take up a ton of room!

  • Why only sizes 0-5T?
This is a space issue for now. Over the 2013 year, I will be transitioning out of baby clothes (Premie-9m) and will be expanding into larger sizes. I'm not sure what size we will go up to, that will just depend on how much room I have in the shed! :) I hope to go up to size 12 or 14, but we'll just have to wait and see!

  • How did you come up with this idea?
Times are tough for all of us and if we think back to when we were kids and times were tough, we ended up wearing a lot of "hand me downs" from family and friends. I'm a Navy wife, far away from family and I'm a stay at home mom, so there's really no time for friends. So I'm a little SOL when it comes to "hand me downs". I figure there must be a lot of us in the same predicament, so what can we do to help each other out? We need to start thinking about ways to save money and look at what we already have instead of what we can go out and buy. I googled "kids clothing trading post" to see if there was something in my area that would allow me to trade in my daughter's clothes so that I wouldn't have to spend more money buying new ones and I found nothing! So I decided to create one and invite the community to come to my home and trade. It just made sense. Hopefully this will inspire others to start up their own trading post in their own communities!
